Michael Israel headlined the 2nd Annual Smile Outreach International Auction and Gala—a “Denim and Diamonds” themed evening of fundraising and celebration held Saturday, April 13, 2024, in the La Cantera Ballroom at La Cantera Resort and Spa in San Antonio, Texas.
An Evening of Giving
The night opened with a red carpet welcome reception, followed by a three-course plated dinner, a silent auction of curated items and experiences, and a spirited live auction. The centerpiece of the evening was Michael Israel’s live performance—painting to music on blank canvas, the stage flanked by his iconic Muhammad Ali and Bruce Springsteen works—with the finished artwork auctioned in support of the cause, before the celebration continued on the dance floor.
All proceeds from ticket sales and the auctions went directly to supporting the mission of Smile Outreach International.
The gala has since become an annual tradition—Smile Outreach International reports its most recent gala raised $387,000 to expand access to dental care for people who need it most.

Smile Outreach International (SOI) was born out of founder Dr. Mark Costes’s passion for utilizing his skill set—and those of his professional colleagues—to alleviate some of the pain and suffering that billions of people endure due to untreated dental disease. According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 3.5 billion people worldwide are affected by lack of access to dental care.
