The Pleasure of Being Prepared While Everyone Else Is Struggling.
After years of traveling around the world for live performances, I’ve discovered little tricks that make flying easier, more comfortable, and less stressful. Here’s one of my favorites.
TE-003 — My Boarding Zone Alarm Trick
Airlines announce a boarding time, but that doesn’t necessarily mean YOU will board at that moment.
I set an alarm for five minutes before boarding begins.
Then I consider my boarding zone.
As a rough personal estimate, each later boarding zone might add another minute or two. If I’m in Zone 6, I might not begin boarding until 6–12 minutes after the process starts.
That can give me a little flexibility for a last-minute bathroom visit rather than unnecessarily standing in line.
But don’t count on those estimates. Boarding speeds vary, and airlines sometimes change their procedures.
Always be near your gate before boarding begins and pay attention to announcements.
The Pleasure of Being Prepared
After all these years of traveling, I’ve learned that great travel experiences aren’t necessarily about how much money you spend.
They’re about making smart choices that let you relax and enjoy yourself.
Good food. Everything organized. No frantic searching. No unnecessary stress.
And maybe a few fellow passengers looking over and wishing they’d thought of it first!
That’s Travel Envy.
