When COVID lockdown shut down live events, it also shut down the in-person galas that keep Works4Charity running. So instead of waiting it out, I built a show from my own studio in Boca Raton and streamed it live to an audience watching from home.
We called it “Burlesque” — a Valentine’s Day show that paired live painting with choreography and performance, streamed straight from the studio floor. It was different from anything I’d done before: no ballroom, no crowd in the room, just a camera, a canvas, and a live audience watching from wherever they were.
The show funded Works4Charity through one of the hardest stretches the program has had — proof that a live performance doesn’t need four walls and a stage to bring people together and raise money for a cause.
