Miami Swimsuit Week runs on glamour — a runway, a packed room, models, lights, at Briza on the Bay. I brought a canvas into that room and painted live alongside artist Jeton Mullaliu, in front of the whole crowd.
The event benefited Shake-A-Leg Miami, a charity that uses sailing and time on the water to help people with disabilities and at-risk youth build confidence and independence.
By the end of the night, the artwork I created live brought in $88,000 for Shake-A-Leg Miami.
An Elvis portrait I’d painted earlier that year, already sold to a collector, was on display at the same event — a reminder that the night wasn’t just about the piece going up for auction, it was a full room of live art alongside the runway.
That’s the part people forget about a room full of fashion and lights: it can also move real money for a cause, if you give the people in that room a reason to bid.
