The story
The live painting that moved millions
In HERO, a firefighter rushes into a collapsing building to save a child trapped inside. The story turns when he discovers that the child he carried to safety is his own daughter.
Set to “Hero” and “God Bless the U.S.A.,” Michael Israel transforms a blank canvas into a tribute to courage, sacrifice, and the first responders who risk everything for others.
The video has drawn more than 13 million views and a lasting response from firefighters, veterans, families, and viewers around the world.
2026 news angle: September 11 marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11. HERO is available as a timely cultural and human-interest story about remembrance, first responders, and the enduring power of a shared tribute.

Why HERO keeps being shared
“I have been a firefighter/EMT/Paramedic for 26 years. This is one of the most moving things I have seen in the form of a tribute to all of my fellow heroes.”
“My brother was one of the firefighters who died to save the innocent during 9/11. He was my hero, my best friend.”
