Sometimes I need to get away for some down time. One of my favorite places is Hawks Kay in the Florida Keys… its quiet, relaxing and the food is good.
I quietly book and pay for my room and don’t have my assistant call to get me celebrity treatment, but after this trip I may just do that. The room is OK but no view or baloney and it’s not close to the pool and lagoon… when I asked for late checkout the girl at the desk was not very helpful… kinda frustrating because conversely when I am touring, on arrival my crew and I are greeted by the resort manager, escorted to a great suite where there is usually a basket with cheese, fruit and wine with a card from the manager saying to ask for anything we need … all comp’d because they know the CEOs and meeting planners that book me also book conventions and all want to know my opinion on the places I’ve visited and performed at.
